BEATLES ASHRAM-RISHIKESH We all must have known about the famous British Rock Band the Beatles formed in Liverpool in 1960. But do you know that they also visited Rishikesh, India for the Transcendental Meditation at Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Ashram? Until some years ago, the abandoned ashram in Rishikesh was just a ruin amidst yoga capital. Maharishi's ashram is situated in a beautiful area within the Rajaji National Park beside the river Ganga. Ashram came into limelight when it housed the members of the legendary rock band the Beatles in 1968. With time the ashram turned into ruin and it was abandoned in 1997. It is believed that the ashram’s land was on lease for 99 years and when the time period of 99 years got completed government took over its land and if was, therefore, left unrestricted. ...
